All Little Otavalo products are handmade by the indigenous people of the Andes Mountains in Ecuador’s Otavalo City. As such, Little Otavalo uses alpaca wool because of its elegant fibers, which are warmer, lighter, and stronger than cashmere.
Do you find standard wool scarves to be scratchy? Alpaca wool is hypoallergenic, which makes it the opposite of itchy — rather, alpaca wool feels soft and warm against the skin. To achieve that key balance of comfort and warmth, Little Otavalo uses a blend of 70% alpaca fleece and 30% acrylic in every shawl.
